Essential Oils That Pair Beautifully With Heat Therapy
Adding essential oils to your heat therapy routine isn’t just about smelling nice (although that’s a bonus!) — it’s about enhancing the therapeutic benefits of warmth with the calming, healing powers of plant-based oils.
Because Blair Henry Designs heat packs are unscented, you can completely personalise the experience. Let’s explore our favourite essential oils to pair with your favourite lupin packs.
1. Lavender – The All-Rounder
Lavender is probably the most loved essential oil — and for good reason.
-
Helps ease muscle tension
-
Supports sleep and calm
-
Reduces anxiety and mental fatigue
Use it with your Neck & Back Pack or Long Pack before bed for the ultimate unwind.
2. Clary Sage – Your Hormonal Hero
Best known for its ability to relieve menstrual cramps, clary sage is perfect for belly pain or stress.
We love it with our Back & Belly Belt or compact packs during those tough cycle days.
3. Ginger – Deep Warmth
Ginger oil is spicy, warming, and great for chronic aches or cold-weather stiffness.
Try pairing it with a long pack across your back or stomach for a warm, grounding sensation.
4. Frankincense – Calming & Centring
This grounding scent is known for reducing stress, enhancing focus, and supporting emotional balance. It’s perfect for calming the nervous system when tension or headaches strike.
5. Eucalyptus – For Muscles & Minds
Eucalyptus is fantastic for:
-
Sore muscles
-
Congestion
-
Post-exercise recovery
It pairs well with any of our Neck and Back Packs for an energising, cooling lift.
How to Use Oils with Your Heat Pack (Safely)
Our lupin packs are fragrance-free and made from 100% cotton, which means you can customise the experience to suit your mood or needs — without interfering with the fabric or function.
Rather than applying oil directly to the pack (which can stain or degrade the material), we recommend this method:
-
Dilute your chosen essential oil with a carrier oil (like sweet almond or jojoba).
-
Apply a small amount to your skin — ideally near the area where you’ll be placing the heat pack (like your lower belly, back, shoulders, or neck).
-
Then apply your heat pack as usual — warmed or chilled — and let the soothing scent and therapeutic warmth do their magic.
This way, you still get the benefits of aromatherapy without altering your pack’s fabric. Plus, it feels luxurious and intentional — a moment of calm and care just for you.
Looking for quality oils? We stock a curated range from Perfect Potion — ethically sourced, pure, and perfect for pairing with your pack.
🌼 A Moment for You
Your pack isn’t just a tool — it’s a ritual.
A chance to pause, breathe, and take care of you.
Add a little aromatherapy and you’ve just created a self-care experience that supports your body and mind, every single day.
